A maser is a device that produces coherent electromagnetic waves (microwaves), through amplification by stimulated emission.  The United States Navy has successfully beamed energy using microwaves.  The laser works by the same principle as the maser, but produces higher frequency coherent radiation at visible wavelengths. The maser was the precursor to the laser, inspiring theoretical work by Townes and Arthur Leonard Schawlow that led to the invention of the laser in 1960 by Theodore Maiman. When the coherent optical oscillator was first imagined in 1957, it was originally called the “optical maser”. This was ultimately changed to laser, for “light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation”. Gordon Gould is credited with creating this acronym in 1957.

While working on transmitting energy from a solar field to a receiver without wires via maserbeam to a receiver that was set up in a cattle field approximately 1,100 feet from the transmitter an error was discovered.  Upon a  check of transmission data two dead cows were discovered that had gone into an area that had been designated as safe to use by the rancher who owned the field where the receiver was set up.  The rancher,  said the dead cattle were scheduled for slaughter.  The rancher, asked for help by killing some other cattle set for slaughter.  In the workshop a maser beam rifle (MBR) was built.

MBR was set up about 1,000 feet from where the cattle were to be slaughtered.  The MBR is a line of sight, light speed rifle that is silent.  The first cow in line fell over dead when shot.  The power was reduced on the MBR and the next cow died when shot.  The power was reduced further, the next cow died when shot.  The power was reduced further, the next cow fell over asleep.  It was decided that human trials were needed.

A really bad person was chosen as an initial test human.  MBR was set up over 1,000 feet away from his car using the lowest power setting.  While he was sitting in his car using his phone he was shot.  He slumped over unconscious.  Seven minutes later he woke up.  Power was raised and he was shot again, he slumped over again.  After 19 minutes he woke up.  It is unknown if the second shot knocked him out for 19 minutes due to an accumulative effect or due to the higher power setting on the MBR.  More trials are planned.

MBRs are great for hunters because they are silent and do not scare intended targets.  MBR powerpack can be recharged with the provided charger or in the field using solar panels.  MBR has 1/4 x 20 mount points that allow the MBR to be mounted to a standard tripod used in photography.  The MBR has an electronic viewfinder (“EVF”) for targeting.  MBR can be mounted to a tripod and fired using an included App that will allow the user to remotely view what is in the EVF and then fire the MBR to allow the user to remain hidden from intended game.

MBR comes with 2 powerpacks good enough to kill 71 cattle per powerpack.  Additional powerpacks $199.95.

MBRs are not currently available due to import restrictions.

MBR price $1,495.00

MBR is not a firearm, no license required to purchase.
