A maser is a device that produces coherent electromagnetic waves (microwaves), through amplification by stimulated emission. The United States Navy has successfully beamed energy using microwaves. The laser works by the same principle as the maser, but produces higher frequency coherent radiation at visible wavelengths. The maser was the precursor to the laser, inspiring theoretical work by Townes and Arthur Leonard Schawlow that led to the invention of the laser in 1960 by Theodore Maiman. When the coherent optical oscillator was first imagined in 1957, it was originally called the “optical maser”. This was ultimately changed to laser, for “light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation”. Gordon Gould is credited with creating this acronym in 1957. I was working on trasmitting energy from a solar field to a receiver without wires via maserbeam. My receiver was set up in a cattle field approximately 1,100 feet from my transmitter. When I went to check on transmission data I found 2 dead cows that had gone into an area I’d been told was safe to use by the rancher who owned the field where the receiver was set up. I thought I’d have to pay for the dead cattle but Brian, the rancher, told me they were scheduled for slaughter. Brian, asked me if I would help him out by killing some other cattle scheduled for slaughter. I agreed and went to my workshop and built a maser beam rifle (MBR). I returned with my MBR and set up about 1,000 feet from where the cattle were to be slaughtered. The MBR is a line of sight, light speed rifle that is silent. I shot the first cow in line, it fell over dead. I turned the power down on the MBR and the next cow died when shot. I turned the power down further, the next cow died when shot. I turned the power down further, the next cow died when shot. I turned the power down further, the next cow died when shot. I turned the power down further, the next cow fell over when shot but was not dead. I then decided human trials were needed. I decided to shoot a really bad person I knew of. I set up over 1,000 feet away from his car using the lowest power setting. While he was sitting in his car using his phone I shot him. He slumped over unconscious. Seven minutes later he woke up. I turned up the power and shot him again, he slumped over again. After 19 minutes he woke up. I don’t know if the second shot knocked him out for 19 minutes due to an accumulative effect or due to the higher power setting on the MBR. More trials planned.
